Activities
Tis the season to book your holiday party early!

The ski season is nearly upon us again and you will be looking for cheap ski vacations.
I like the idea of taking winter vacations because it can be a way to enjoy the snow and take a break from trying to live normal daily life while fighting with it. Snow is beautiful but not if you’re sitting on the highway for three hours watching it fall and snarl traffic, preventing you from getting home. One of my favorite winter vacations was the time we went to Vermont to ski and snowshoe, and even though I was certainly cold, it didn’t bother me as much because I was doing things that were fun. I wasn’t waking up in the cold and heading out to work in the dark, feeling like my blood would freeze before I ever reached a warm building.
Have you found that perfect skiing package yet? The one which provides ski lodging, rental equipment, plenty of resort activities, in a resort that has plenty of ski trails, ski lifts, long pistes, trails & runs, suitable for the beginner, intermediate and expert skier, close access to the slopes from your lodging and of course the all important après-ski? Also there are many different ski schools to pick from, lift tickets to buy, and après-ski to enjoy, appropriate runs to choose for your group. It can all seem overwhelming! You might want to take a look at using a ski travel package company to help you with all this.
Which is the best ski resort? Is it Vail, Camelback or Jackson Hole. I for one really enjoy Lake Tahoe.
You can find great resources around Lake Tahoe for learning snow skiing. Lake Tahoe skiing is world class! There is no other way to put it. The options you have at the resort are only limited by time. From Echo Summit and Carson Pass in the south to Donner Summit to Mount Rose in the north, you will be able to find an endless supply of adventures. Then there is Mt. Tallac, at 3,000 feet it tower’s above Tahoe’s southwest shore and you will be able to enjoy a variety of terrain without equal.
Lake Tahoe vacation is replete with skiing and snowshoeing possibilities. Even if you’ve never skied, there are so many ski areas you’ll find one to suit you. Homewood Ski Resort, on the west shore, has several gentle slopes for the novice, and is very kid-friendly. Heavenly Valley and Squaw valley offer challenging runs for the experienced skier.
Your Lake Tahoe vacation will not be complete without visiting some of the hundreds of excellent restaurants lining the shore. Their lake views are breathtaking, and you can find menus ranging from pizza to gourmet. Take your pick
!
All around the lake, there are shops galore, to satisfy the shopping vacationer.
On the Nevada side, casinos offer night time fun, along with “all-you-can-eat” buffets at a reasonable price and top-quality food.
When planning your Lake Tahoe vacation, contact the various Chamber of Commerce organizations for ongoing events you won’t want to miss. There are many themed fairs, Shakespeare theater, hot-air balloon tours, air shows and vintage car exhibits to please every member of your family. An online search for “Lake Tahoe vacation” will yield more possibilities than you can fit in to your Lake Tahoe vacation time!
Plan your holiday party before dates fill up! The Chateau at Incline Village is the perfect place to hold a memorable event and our friendly sales staff will assist you in accommodating 25 to 300 people.

Lake Tahoe is best known for the winter season where the skiing is magnificent and some of the best in the world. However, it is, at heart, a lake and a place where the summer time offers some great water activities.
This is a boating paradise. Lake boat rentals allow visitors to take full advantage of the lake front activities that are present in the summer season at Tahoe.
The region offers some great fishing, swimming and other water fun. There are plenty of the resorts that cater to year round guests.
The summer time at the lake is not as amped up or busy as the winter skiing season. This makes it have more of a homey feel to it. The region in the summer offers all the magnificence of the high mountain country with all the beautiful views that are present in the winter season.
Lake boat rentals provide a way for summer visitors to explore the lake and all the wonderful things it has to offer. A boat rental can be secured through many of the resorts in the area. Boat rentals are also available through independent rental shops.
Lake Tahoe is a wonderful vacation any time of the year because it is breath taking all year long. In the summer months the focus is on the lake. There are no pushy skiers off to hit the slopes and the atmosphere is a bit more calm.
Overall the region in the summer is made for those lazy days of relaxing and soaking up the suns rays while floating in a boat on the waters. Lake Tahoe boat rentals can bring you closer to the lake then ever before and allow you to see why it is not just a skiing paradise, but rather a paradise any time of the year.
So lets’ say you want to spend a day on the lake. Where should you start? Well if you are at the north end of Tahoe you should visit the North Tahoe Marina where you can rent boats from 18′ to 24′ and reservations are recommended.
If you are on the south shore you should start at The Zephyr Cove Resort marina where they feature a full service facility. The resort is home to a wonderful sandy beach complete with volleyball, swimming, with rental beach chairs and umbrellas! A host of other activities await you including:
Zephyr Cove Marina- Rent a 22′ 300-hp SeaRay Powerboat with Water Sports Tower, which allows attachment of tow rope for water skiing, etc and go out for an unforgettable day. Grab some water toys like ski tubes, wake boards, water skis, wet suits and tow ropes, the Zephyr Cove Marina has everything you need.

Lake Tahoe camping offers some of the most memorable trails and camp spots in the whole world. The fabulous and powerful mountains of the High Sierras surround one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, drawing campers, hikers and bikers from all over the globe to experience this jewel of a vacation spot. Let’s take a brief look at the hiking and camping in the region:
The Lake Tahoe Rim Trails, north and south, both allow views of Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley. These hikes are both moderate in difficulty, at an elevation of about 8,500 feet.
Marlette Lake is a fish hatchery at an elevation of about 8,000 feet. Hiking up the Spooner Lake Trailhead in the Nevada State Park will take you through lovely, aspen-filled North Canyon to Marlette Lake Dam. This hike is also of moderate difficulty.
The State Lookout hike is an easy one, at an elevation of about 7,000 feet and only a mile roundtrip. The Lookout affords superior lake views through free telescopes and you can take the nature trail which details the history of Lake Tahoe’s famous North Shore. Turn north on Reservoir Drive off off Highway 28.
Another short and easy hike, on Lake Tahoe’s south shore, is the Moraine Trail. Its elevation is about 6,000 feet and the hike is 2 miles roundtrip and fairly flat. It winds through the forest and along the Fallen Leaf Lakeshore and then on into Fallen Leaf Campground. Find it about three miles north of Highway 89 from South Lake Tahoe to Fallen Leaf Road.
This is just a smattering of trail descriptions for you to see some of Lake Tahoe’s wonderful trails. Don’t forget to research the weather and your permits… and that campfires are not allowed.
Happy hiking!

SKIING HOLIDAY VACAION IN LAKE TAHOE
Source: www.articlesnatch.com
The spectacular Lake Tahoe skiing area is split roughly into two-third in California and one- third in Nevada. Many ski magazines have billed Lake Tahoe ski resort as one of the most beautiful resorts in the world and these praises have also been underscored by skiers on holiday vacation in Lake Tahoe ski resorts.
“Gold has been found along the base of Carson-Sierra Range. It has a magnificent lake. It will become a world renowned place” the Placerville Herald proclaimed in 1853. The newspaper was right about every thing else except about the gold. Lake Tahoe ski resort certainly has a magnificent lake and definitely is world renowned for its pristine beauty and excellent skiing terrains.
When Les Otten’s American Skiing Company purchased this made in heaven resort, he was reported to have said, “We have casinos like Monte Carlo, mountains like the Alps, a magnificent lake and 24 hour nightlife.”
This gorgeous cobalt-blue high-alpine lake is actually surrounded by 15 ski areas and resorts. Although commonly called Lake Tahoe ski resort, it is actually a collection of several ski resorts. Some like the Diamond Peak have more sensational views and while others like the Squaw Valley ski resort have superb skiing trails but then is too far away to view the beautiful lake
Tahoe in the Red Indian language means ‘water in high places’. It certainly is so for Lake Tahoe, one of the world’s biggest and highest alpine lakes and is almost entirely surrounded by mountains. The entire 15 ski area occupies a space of 27,000 acres (12,000) hectares of ski terrain, 200 lifts and more than a whopping 1,000 trails. Heavenly, with the highest slopes over 3,000meters and that is a rollicking 10,000 feet skiing, is the resort people commonly link to Lake Tahoe with Squaw Valley coming a close second.
For real off-piste challenges, skiers and snow boarders should head for Killbrew Canyon and Mott Canyon where double black diamond chutes and bowls offer excellent powder skiing. Mogul lovers will want to test their skills at the Gunbarrel. A bunch of adrenaline rush seeking skiers who call themselves Face Rats, do nothing but ski this seemingly endless bump run, managing as many as 40 descents in one day and recently, two Rats pushed the record up to 54.
Heavenly is also known for its Las Vegas style gambling hotels. There are cabaret shows at places like Harrah’s, Harvey’s and Caesar’s in South Lake Tahoe.
Legend has it that Squaw Valley was discovered sometime around 500AD by the Washoe Indians. In 1860s, rumors of silver deposits brought prospectors flocking to the area, but nothing was ever found.
If you do enjoy skiing with a touch of nightlife fun, then a skiing holiday vacation in Lake Tahoe ski resort should certainly be in your skiing itinerary calendar.
Classic Lake Tahoe Golf Courses by Alan LeStourgeon
Lake Tahoe golf courses provide challenging and scenic play for all levels. Though closed during the winter, Lake Tahoe Basin’s gorgeous weather, never too hot, humid, and rarely raining, allows for endless days of hitting the greens and taking in the fresh mountain air during the spring, summer, and fall.
The Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course sits on the southern shore of Lake Tahoe- a stunning setting. Tall Jeffrey Pines dot the landscape around the meticulously landscaped holes. This course hosts the Celebrity Golf Championship, which attracts the likes of Michael Jordan, Mario Lemieux and many others. The final three holes brings the golfer to the edge of Lake Tahoe for a memorable and scenic finish. Edgewood is so popular they take group reservations up to one year in advance.
On the north side of the lake, awaits the Incline Championship Golf Course. This par 72 course carries a course rating of 74.1. Golfers face water challenges on almost every hole among narrow fairways with towering pine trees. This classic course is considered by many to be one of the most pristine and best in the West. The golfer is treated to incredible mountain and lake views as they meet the challenges around the course.
The Northstar-at-Tahoe course in Truckee plays up to 6,781 yards and carries a course rating of 72.4. Play the front nine through a valley and a back nine through the woods. This course offers average size greens and challenging play. The Northstar-at-Tahoe, designed by Robert Muir Graves, rolls with the landscape and the movement of the land. This course has recently changed from a par 72 to par 71.
The Resort at Squaw Creek challenges even the best golfer. This par 71 course sits at the base of Squaw Valley USA, home of the 1960 Winter Olympics. In the middle of the wetlands of Squaw Valley, painstaking care and creative design takes into account the environment and the natural setting. Golf Magazine has called this course one of the “Top ten courses you can play.”
These are just a few of the great Tahoe golf courses in the area. If you are planning a golf vacation then Lake Tahoe is a superb destination. The weather, landscape and natural setting of Lake Tahoe combine to give the golfing enthusiast a vacation to remember for years to come.
